With the project THE COPY AS A CAPTION I researched New York City-based material in that architecture institute’s rich collection. Based on the concept of Reprint, I copied parts of my finds from the archive. Of course, this was precarious because of copyright issues. The print research, among other things, inspired the book Flat Finish New York. Parts from New York trade and building materials catalogues are included in this book. After this working period, on the advice of the director, I took a very slow train ride from Montreal straight to downtown NYC. A magical train journey through Vermont, among other places.
