Keppel’s work will be on view in de Appel’s Living Room as the first chapter in a two-part collaboration. For this project, he has focused his extensive photo archive of Amsterdam on New West since 2017, the moment de Appel moved into this district and Broedplaats Lely. Each image is relevant in the context of the rapid changes due to gentrification that are becoming visible outside its walls. His selection is based on images and relics from outside, but also inspired by the specific interior architecture of the space itself. This reality of the outside is reflected in the second chapter of this project, in the form of a newspaper that will be distributed throughout Amsterdam New West and beyond.
